Good day and welcome to our November edition of Tech Talk. Today’s article and video is all about your pump’s unloader valve. From what it is, to keeping it well maintained, here are a few essential tips!
What is an Unloader Valve?
An unloader valve is the component that allows the pump to bypass the flow of water while the gun is closed. It is a safety device that is designed to protect the pump in the event of over pressurization.
In essence, an unloader bypasses water in a high- pressure pump to prevent the unit from over- pressurizing!

Maintaining your Unloader Valve
Maintaining your unloader is relatively simple as it is done by lubricating the shaft seals with waterproof grease once every 500 operating hours OR after 12 500 cycles of the valve, whichever comes first.
The body of the valve & it’s internal parts should be checked for wear after every 1000 hours of operation. Remember that it is absolutely essential that you apply waterproof grease to the seals during reassembly.
