TechTalk #12- Floor Scrubber Blade Maintenance

CEMSA Floor Scrubber Blade maintenace

Welcome back to our 12th edition of TechTalk! In today’s article we will be highlighting a few tips for your IPC Floor Scrubber Squeegee Blades! From the difference between your oil- resistant and standard squeegees to why you should always rotate your blades. We’ll also be discussing the order in which you should rotate them!

Squeegee Types!

Pictured below are the 4 different squeegees that comes with most of IPC’s Floor Scrubber range. The red squeegees are your standard blades. The cream ones depicted are your oil- resistant ones. Take note of blade 1 and 3. These 2 are considered the front blades for your unit. They are identified by the notches on the side of them as well as the angular shape towards the top and bottom. Make sure that they are always the right way around!  The reason for the difference between the red and cream blade is because oil would eat away at the latex in the standard red. Therefore, we recommend that you always use the correct one for your application!

Rotating Your Squeegee Blades

Even though we recommend rotating your blades so adamantly, there is no set time as to when you should do it. This is because there are simply, way too many factors to take into consideration. Such as: application, surface type and your usage frequency! Due to these influences we insist that you rotate your blades as often as you feel necessary! So long as you do not neglect the fact that it needs to be done.

The illustrations below will show you best order in which to rotate your squeegee blades! Remember, the blades still need to be gripped on one side, therefore, wearing it down too much can be just as negligent.

You can start off with any side, just make sure you remember which one it was before removing the squeegee blade!

Thereon, simply rotate the blade BACKWARDS 180°! All you need to do is flip it over and slap it back on.

From there, rotate the squeegee 180° to the LEFT. This will give you the 3rd side that you should be using!

Finally, you can turn the squeegee back to it's original front side, this time using the other end. From the 3rd position flip the squeegee FORWARDS 180°.

One final bit of important information for your Floor Scrubber! Raise your blade when you are done cleaning your floor. This prevents wear against your blade as well deformation of its shape.
