What Are High-Pressure Misting Systems and Why Do You Need One?

What Are High-Pressure Misting Systems and Why Do You Need One?

With Spring upon us, misting systems are an important consideration for restaurants, chicken houses, greenhouses, and even mines. Here’s a quick overview of misting systems and how they work:

What Are High-Pressure Misting Systems?

Misting systems comprise of high-pressure pumps, tubing, and atomised nozzles that spray ultra-fine mist into the air. This mist rapidly cools the surrounding environment by 2°C to 12°C without leaving surfaces wet.

What Are Atomised Nozzles?

Atomised nozzles, as seen in the image below, can be compared to small sprinklers that spray ultra-fine mist into the air. These nozzles break water into tiny particles that evaporate almost instantly upon contact with warm air. Atomised nozzles are the most commonly used type of misting nozzle.

What Are High-Pressure Misting Systems Used For?

Our high-pressure misting systems can be used in a wide range of applications across various industries, including:

Atomised nozzles can be used in all these applications, except for dust suppression in mines. For dust suppression, a different type of nozzle is used, which allows larger water droplets to passthrough. This is important as the droplets need to be large enough to collide with the dust particles and pull them to the ground.
